Backwards Day was established on January 29, 1961, by Megan Emily Scott and Sarah Nicole Miller. The idea came to them while they were milking cows on the Miller family farm and were considering making crafts. They sat down and made the rules later that evening. Backwards Day was first observed on January 31, 1962, as word of the concept spread throughout the community. As the two women were going down the street, they noticed that everyone in the town was doing things the wrong way!
